Characteristics and Change of Spatial Distribution by Age: Focusing on Seoul 연령에 따른 거주지의 공간 분포 특성과 변화: 서울시를 중심으로: 홍유진^{^††}

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to empirically and comprehensively analyze the phenomenon in which living spaces are differentiated by age group in large cities. First, at two time points, 2000 and 2021, a hexagonal grid was created through a kernel density to allocate the population by age, and the spatial distribution pattern of residence by age group was confirmed through the standardized score of dissimilarity of each cell. Second, the characteristics of regions where specific age groups are concentrated were compared in terms of ability to afford housing costs, density, and employment accessibility. Finally, the overall level of residential segregation by age group was analyzed through the segregation index, dissimilarity index, and global Moran’s I. As a result, it was confirmed that the spatial distribution and characteristics of residence were different for each age group, and that the residence and characteristics for each age group also changed over time, except for the young adults (25-34 years old). Second, while the degree of segregation between age groups increased over time, the degree of segregation among young people increased the most. On the other hand, the degree of clustering increased in the same age group, and this was also conspicuous in the young adult group. That is, while the degree of segregation between different age groups increased, the degree of clustering within the same group increased. Through this analysis, it was confirmed that there is a difference in residence between age groups and that the level of segregation between age groups has increased over time. However, the part about the difference within the same age group seems to require additional research.

본 연구는 대도시 내에서 거주공간이 연령집단에 의해 분화되는 현상을 실증적이고 종합적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 첫째, 2000년과 2021년의 두 시점에서 육각형 그리드를 생성하여 커널밀도에 기반하여 연령집단별로 인구를 할당하고 각 셀의 표준화상이점수를 통해 연령집단별 주거지의 공간적 분포 패턴을 확인하였다. 둘째, 특정 연령집단이 집중되어 있는 지역의 특성을 주거비 부담 능력, 밀도, 고용 접근성의 측면에서 비교하였다. 마지막으로 전반적인 연령집단별 주거지 분리 수준을 분리지수와 상이지수, 그리고 전역적 모란지수를 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과 연령집단별로 거주지의 공간분포 및 특성이 상이하고, 청년층(25~34세)을 제외하고 시기에 따라 연령별 거주지 및 특성도 변화되었음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 시간이 지나면서 연령집단 간 분리 정도가 커진 가운데 청년층의 분리 정도가 가장 크게 증가했다. 반면 동일 연령집단에서는 군집정도가 커졌고 이 역시 청년층에서 두드러졌다. 즉, 상이한 연령집단 사이의 분리 정도는 증가한 가운데 동일집단 내에서의 군집성은 커졌다. 이러한 분석 결과들을 통해 연령집단 간 거주공간의 차이가 존재하고 있으며 시간이 지나면서 연령집단 간 분리 수준이 커졌음을 확인하였다. 다만 동일 연령집단 내에서의 차이에 대한 부분은 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 보인다.
