Comparison of Discussions and Implications of Domestic and International Urban Shrinkage Research: Focusing on Language Network Analysis and Topic Modeling

국내외 도시축소 연구의 논의 비교 및 시사점: 언어네트워크 분석 및 토픽분석을 중심으로

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to compare and analyze urban shrinkage discussions at Korea and abroad from various angles, draw implications, and suggest directions for future domestic research. For this aim, language network analysis and topic modeling methods among text mining techniques were used, and major issues of the research were identified through representative studies for each topic. Through this analysis, it was found that domestic studies often examined the urban shrinkage phenomenon and discussed the need to introduce policies to respond to overseas urban shrinkage. However, in light of international research, it was confirmed that the topic needs to be diversified and that a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the region is needed to prepare countermeasures for urban shrinkage. It was confirmed that response strategies and policies should be expanded beyond physical aspects to social discussions such as residents’ quality of life, civil society, and participatory governance.

본 연구는 국내외의 도시축소 논의를 다각도로 비교, 분석하고 시사점을 도출하여 향후 국내 연구의 방향을 제시하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 이를 위해 텍스트 마이닝 기법 중 언어네트워크 분석 및 토픽분석 방법을 활용하였으며 각 주제별 대표 연구를 통해 연구의 주요 쟁점을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 국내 연구는 주로 도시축소 현상에 대한 분석과 함께 국외 도시축소 대응 정책의 도입 필요성을 논의한 경우가 많았음을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 국외 연구에 비추어 주제의 다양화가 필요하며 또한 도시축소 대응방안 마련을 위한 종합적이고 깊이 있는 지역 이해가 필요함을 확인했다. 특히 대응 전략 및 정책에 있어 물리적 측면 외에 주민의 삶의 질이나 시민사회와 참여 거버넌스 등의 사회적 논의로 확장되어야 함을 확인하였다.
